The Coastal Resources Division (CRD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has primary responsibility for managing Georgia 's marshes, beaches, and marine fishery resources. Their extensive Web site provides information on habitat management, permits, laws and regulations, the Georgia Coastal Management Program, the Coastal Ark mobile classroom, the annual Coastfest, beach water quality, and much more, at: http://crd.dnr.state.ga.us/

Current beach water quality information and advisories for various locations on the Georgia coast are available through a hot link on the CRD Web site above, or directly from the Earth 911 Web site at http://www.cleanup.org/.

EPA Oceans and Coastal Protection Division Web siteprovides information on a wide variety of coastal and marine programs, including air and water pollution, estuaries, watersheds, coral reefs, geographic information, and more: http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/oceans/index.html .

EPA National Estuary Program Web site provides extensive information on estuaries (partially enclosed bodies of water formed where freshwater from rivers and streams flows into the ocean, mixing with the salty sea water), including management approaches for these important areas: http://www.epa.gov/owow/estuaries/ .

Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO) is a national educational program for land use decision makers that addresses the relationship between land use and natural resource protection, with a focus on water resources.
